Walk In Him

Greetings in the Name of Jesus, and welcome to Walk In Him which is a program designed to faciliate intimacy with Christ and to help us lose weight for God's glory. We have named it "Walk In Him" to remind us that when we walk we are not merely doing so to expend calories, we are desiring to purposefully spend time with the Lord, seeking to get closer to the heart of God as we walk. We will walk in Him if we meditate upon Him while we walk, if we sing songs to the Lord, and if we contemplate the truths of Scripture and how to specifically apply them to our lives. It is especially helpful to walk right after a time of prayerful study of God's Word so that we might then meditate on what we have read.

This program is accessible by using your login information that you chose when signing up for The Lord's Table or In His Image course. If you have not yet signed up for any of this free study, simply roll your mouse over "Online Courses" on the left menu, and then choose the course in order to enroll.

Our Scripture passage to associate with "Walk In Him" comes from Colossians 2:6:

"Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him." (Colossians 2:6).

This passage tells us to walk in Him, which means to live in such a way as to honor the Lord. Our Christian lives here are described as a "walk" as we are to "move forward" with the Lord and "walk" in a way of wisdom so that God is honored in our lives.

With the above truth in mind, Setting Captives Free has developed a program to help us walk, to keep track of our daily steps, and to encourage accountability one with another. The objective is to reach an average number of steps of 10,000 a day, or approximately 5 miles a day. Health professionals have determined that walking 10,000 steps a day promotes overall health, increases longevity, and faciliates healthy weight loss. These 10,000 steps a day include all walking that you do in a day and can usually be accomplished by adding somewhere between 30 minutes to an hour of additional walking every day. The use of a "pedometer" can be a fairly accurate means of counting steps for you.

This program, called "Walk In Him" is designed to be fun, to be shared with others, and to encourage intimacy with Christ and healthy weight loss. The way it works is to simply log in your number of steps taken every day and then view your graph at the end of the week and see what your average number of steps has been for the week. The objective is to gradually increase those number of steps each week until you reach 10,000 a day average.

We have purposefully made the program easy to use and fun to share with others, at no cost to either you or them, so that we might incorporate the biblical principle of "accountability" (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12; Hebrews 3:13, etc.). Please feel free to invite a friend or accountability partner to view your daily walking by using the link provided.

Now proceed to the program called Walk In Him.
